Disconnect the spark plug wire, and move it out of the way. Remove the spark plug with a ratcheting wrench and a spark plug socket or a spark plug tool. Inspect the business end of the spark plug looking for signs of wear and tear or obvious signs of damage. If the spark plug shows signs of wear, replace it immediately. Use a gapping tool to be sure the spark plug gap measures 0.030 inches before installing a new spark plug or the old spark plug that is still in good condition.
Reattach the spark plug wire and attempt to start the engine. If the engine does not start, look at the condition of the air filter.
