Recently been thinking about a dispatch system, for which i asked you people for your opinion on mercury 2, having now had a meeting with autocab and bearing in mind everything is cloud based they seem to want to charge a big instalation charge butim not sure this is necessary. Has anyone else got the same system and how much was the instalation charge??? Please note this is the fee they charged you for installing their programs not buying equipment which is priced separetly.
Lecture guide bangladesh. Regards chris Why not give Bill a ring at Datamaster? He doesn't charge silly installation prices or make you sign up to a monthly fee for support. The simplest things in life are better. Give me a call if you want a second opinion on the connectivity with any of the despatch providers - the actual SIMs and driver PDAs.

Piers (6) Why don't you just put that second opinion out here so everyone can benefit? Or you charge for that:lol I've got my own opinions about dispatch apps and can chat if you like? Not sure whether it'd be any use as every fleet is different and works differently!
I'm personally a massive fan of iCabbi. Happy to talk around connectivity - phone systems, IVRs, automation, line-rentals, phones/PDAs, roaming SIMs, leases - all that lovely stuff.
Roaming SIMs, all that lovely stuff. In our industry a roaming sim and all that lovely stuff, dont go together. Having sat through m2m meetings and both o2 and vodafone anyone that recommends such to a taxi firm either doesnt understand the industry or doesnt understand how they work. Its sold in to taxis as an instant switch over, one signal goes the other is found, it just doesnt work like that, for a sim to roam takes on average 7 minutes of communications between systems. 7 minutes equates to what, 2 or 3 miles?
By which point you have a signal again. Problem solved, money saved on wasted sims. You obviously haven't used our m2m roaming sims already working perfectly in cordic, autocab and data master despatch systems to name a few plus other markets in the uk and around the world, trailed and tested.
Don't be fooled by the 'taxi roaming sim' that certain companies are selling out there, it's NOT a roaming sim ( how they get away with it beats me) it's basically a steered sim that sits on a network even if their is a stronger signal it still stays on it. Once the signal drops your drivers have to manually change it to another network!! It's criminal what some companies claim!!! Feel free to contact myself if you wish to trial out.
I work for a company in Manchester that's just had this nightmare of a system installed, in conjunction with a merger with a crap company that used to cover the Cheetham Hill (say no more) area of Manchester. Now all their drivers are making their way onto our area instead of their own patch - leaving us at least £20-30 a night down. Anybody used Autocab for a while and can pass on any tricks and workarounds in the system? There must be some. Auriga, the system we used before, was full of them. Help the fight-back.
Our firms looking at Autocab to replace auriga! CC Tell them 'not to bother' its sh.te!! Our auriga one costs a fortune.can't be that bad surely? CC You can't take a job off the system untill you've cleared with the job you're doing. This is enforced by the fact you've got to use the meter built into the Autocab data head.
Not only is this limiting your earning power, it also makes a record of your precise earnings!!??!! So the Taxman will be able to see just what you take each shift - so there'll be no getting out of that one in future. This is only a sample of how sh.te Autocab is for Drivers - it might suit the Owners and the Taxman but for us, Forget it!! You can't take a job off the system untill you've cleared with the job you're doing.

When your about to clear long bonnet the data head which means clear before the journey ends. The system won't send you a job until you clear your meter. You have the ability to tell the system that you are to clear shortly and it will allocate any work in your clearing zone to you, unless there are clear vehicles already in the zone. It is very noticeable that if all involved, drivers and controllers, play the game, everybody gets their fair share of work. It's down to management to keep things above board and eliminate cheating.
With robust disciplinary procedures for drivers and staff, we have just about managed it!!!! And since when has any taxi firm been that well run it can manage that??!! The Auriga system we had, before this nonsense, at least allowed decent drivers the opportunity to plan ahead somewhat and use their aptitude for the job, gained through experience.
Autocab takes any skill out of the job, and as a result decreases the earnings of decent drivers. Some companies don’t have good disciplinary skills and instead leave it to the software to define and enforce the rules. At least doing it this way, the rules are exactly the same for all drivers so everyone gets an even share of the work.
And by the way, every system I’ve seen has this function although it’s generally optional as to whether it’s applied or not. By holding a job for a car that’s soon to clear in an area you’re effectively doing exactly the same thing as “long bonneting” but the difference is that the office sees a true rather than false situation and as such is able to advise the waiting customer better. What’s more, there may be other cars that actually clear earlier and that would be better placed to do the job which is better for the other driver and better for the customer.
