The three most prevalent certifications for Medical Assistant are offered by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technologists (AMT) and the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). In most cases, certification by any of these organizations will be accepted nationally.

Subject matter for these exams falls into the following three subject areas: General Knowledge, Administrative Knowledge and Clinical Knowledge. To prepare for the actual exam, we provide a 750 question written by Melanie Shearer, MS., MT (ASCP), CMA (AAMA), who is an Instructor of Medical Assisting; Dr. David Valte, Professor of Medical Assisting, Bramson ORT College; and Christina Cline, CMA (AAMA). The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA ) and Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA) credentials are voluntary, though many medical assistants find that individual employers require them prior to making an offer of employment. We try to get it sent out to you the same day. What happens after I send in the completed Board Article quiz for grading?A.  When we receive your quiz, we will grade it and record it in your file. You must receive a score of at least 70% correct in order to receive credit. You may only receive credit for an article once.

No credit will be given on duplicate articles. Our office will only keep track of articles purchased through us and those published in the California Medical Assistant. Please maintain your own records of other education credits. When your Board Article quiz has been graded, we will send you a letter detailing the most recent credits recorded. Please retain these letters for recertification. If you would like your quiz back, please note that when sending us your quiz and be sure to include a self-addressed stamped envelope.
